Heading north on Hwy 40 out of Winter Park, thru Fraser and Tabernash, turn on CO Hwy 55 - just a few
miles before reaching Granby. You will find yourself on a well-packed gravel road almost immediately. This road is the actual stagecoach route used in the late
1800's over Cottonwood Pass to Hot Sulphur Springs. You find yourself traveling back in time as you wind your way along rolling farmland and up the gradual grade
to the pass.
Many times along the way you will spot old abandoned cabins, like the one above. Weather-beaten but still standing after all these decades. As you look around - the
vast pasture-lands, the mountains in the distance - you have to marvel at the strength of these people who scratched out a living here. The
cabin is but a reminder of days gone by.
