On Saturday, November 20, 2010, the GLS group hiked the Pine Valley Loop trail
outside Pine Grove (formerly just Pine), CO. The loop is an easy hike gaining 1300 ft in elevation during its 8 miles roundtrip. The hike is dominated by reminders of
the High Meadows fire of 2000 - a fire originated by lightning. This was a nice hike on a great day with wonderful companions.
We could see how steep the drop was just alongside the trail and knew at some point we would have to negotiate that elevation loss. Coming around a
huge rock in the trail we were greeted with the stairs that started our final leg of the hike - down to Pine Lake.
