Turning off Hwy 40 just out (north) of Frazer onto CO Rd 50, presents a wonderful drive through
the Fraser Valley with spectacular views of the Continental Divide. You don't have to drive far at all before you come across this old
homestead. The house looks as if it will topple in a hard wind yet here it stands - a testament to the hardy construction of the early pioneers.
This area is also called Middle Park - a high basin that surrounds the headwaters of the Colorado River. This area was originally home to the Ute and Arapahoe Indians before
being overtaken by pioneers and logging operations in the late 1800's. Homesteads like the one above dot the roads throughout the valley around Fraser, making the drive awesome at
every turn in the road.
