On Saturday, November 20, 2010, the GLS group hiked the Pine Valley Loop trail
outside Pine Grove (formerly just Pine), CO. The loop is an easy hike gaining 1300 ft in elevation during its 8 miles roundtrip. The hike is dominated by reminders of
the High Meadows fire of 2000 - a fire originated by lightning. This was a nice hike on a great day with wonderful companions.
As we make our first elevation gain of this loop trail, we see close-up some of the reminders of the High Meadows fire. The trail seemed to
take us right along the rim of where the fire stopped devouring the trees. I found it an interesting contrast of destruction and life. In existence,
