Heading to the summit of Mt Evans from Summit Lake is a narrow and at times
breath-taking drive. Going up is not as bad as coming down since on the way down, you are in the outside lane so the driver MUST keep
both eyes on the road!
There are many switchbacks since you gaining over 1,000 feet in just a few miles. At one of the switchbacks, we
pulled off and walked to the edge of the cliff to get this shot looking west toward the Continental Divide. In the distance
are the twin 14ers of Grays and Torreys Peaks. In the foreground on the right is an upper
edge of Mt. Bierstadt. Mt. Bierstadt is also a 14ers and is connected to Mt Evans by the Saw Tooth Ridge.
