Every hiking season, I climb a previously scaled 14er to check the condition of my
legs and lungs. This year, I intended to do Mt. Bierstadt again but part way up the road to Guanella Pass I discovered construction had closed
the road. I back tracked and headed up I-70 to the trailhead for Grays and Torreys Peaks. I had hiked Grays twice before - once continuing over
to Torreys Peak.
Taking a break half way up the steep climb to get some water and snack, the view back down the toward the trail I had
just come up was great. Not only the trail below but the entire scene was too good to pass up.
