      lake granby
After passing through Granby and turning onto Hwy 34 toward Grand Lake, you come upon Lake Granby. It is the largest of three lakes in this area - Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake and Grand Lake. In fact, Lake Granby is the second largest body of water in Colorado. It has 40 miles of shoreline. Since it was now early spring, we thought the snow melt off would have been filling the lake but found Lake Granby surprisingly low.

Stopping to take in the view, I grabbed this image of Lake Granby with the outskirts of the town of Grand Lake in the distance along the shore and the towering peaks of the Continental Divide and Rocky Mountain National Park in the distance.
