September 18, 2010 - I drove to Rocky Mountain National Park early in
hopes of beating the rush of Denverites heading to the mountains. This is a prime weekend for finding great fall colors. I luckily
found a parking spot at the Glacier Gorge trailhead. Quickly I prepared everything and started my trek to find
Black Lake - deep (about 5 miles)into the Rockies from the trailhead. I had been told about Black Lake by
Lori Salisbury a few years ago. She found it to be a very inspirational
place.
Coming out of the forest into a clearing, this is the view I had. Incredibly beautiful and one that got the adrenaline pumping
because by reaching Ribbon Falls, I was now just one more climb from Black Lake. The trail actually took me right next to the
falls. Really cool.
