On Saturday, September 25, 2010, I picked up my good friend and fellow photographer Sequoia for was likely our last
photo trip into the mountains before she moves to California. We have enjoyed many such mornings driving, enjoying each others company and getting some great shots in places
off the beaten path. Our destination was Steamboat Springs but our goal was to try to capture some of the autumn scenes we were being blessed with seeing.
We were about 15 miles outside of Silverthorne when we spotted a mist in the valley to left. With all the wildfires Colorado has had this season we wondered if it was the
start of another one but with the temps in the mid-20s the thought quickly turned to maybe a lake or stream instead. We found a road leading down to the
stream and found the source of the mist.
In spite of the cold, it was easy to savor the moment. In a very short time, the sun will be high enough to warm the temperatures and the mist will be gone. We were
capturing a moment in time -- and we both knew it - and didn't have to say it.
