Every hiking season, I climb a previously scaled 14er to check the condition of my
legs and lungs. This year, I intended to do Mt. Bierstadt again but part way up the road to Guanella Pass I discovered construction had closed
the road. I back tracked and headed up I-70 to the trailhead for Grays and Torreys Peaks. I had hiked Grays twice before - once continuing over
to Torreys Peak.
I am now at the same level as the saddle between the two peaks looking toward Torreys. You can see the trail running
along the ridge to the summit. It is every bit as steep and scary as it looks.
