On a two day, 854 mile road trip over the Memorial Day weekend in 2010, I traveled from Denver to the
western slopes of the Rockies, visited Telluride before settling into Cortez for the night. The Mesa Verde National Park and the world famouns cliff dwellings
awaited me the next morning. However, the trip to Cortez was such a beautiful, scenic drive.
I was now passed Ridgway and on my way to Telluride. I had never been to Telluride and wanted to finally visit, possibly staying overnight – making the rest of
the trip to the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde in the morning. The image above was one of many times I hit the brakes (thank goodness the traffic was light),
pulled over and tried to frame a picture. These horses, the fence, the pasture, the building, the trees and the mountains as the backdrop were way too cool
to pass up.
