The San Juan Mountains are a rugged mountain range in southwestern Colorado.
The area is highly mineralized and figured in gold and silver mining industry of early Colorado. The peaks shown in the picture above are
part of the continental divide.
As I drove Hwy 550, I found myself constantly stopping to take pictures and just revel in the beauty of the land. I have plans to revisit
the area in spring, take some off-road trails, take some roads less traveled. If the mountains are this fantastic from a major highway they
have to be even greater when you get deeper into their recesses.
