Mesa Verde, Spanish for ‘Green Table’, was a flourishing community from AD 600 through AD 1300. These cliff dwellings actually represent the last 75 to 100 years of occupation.

This is an distant view of the Step House and the many levels it had. At its peak, it contained 94 rooms on four levels and a large kiva (see next picture). The Step House can be reached via a trail from the tram stop and is a self-guided tour.
