Summit Lake is a perfect example of an alpine lake - situated at 12,830 ft. It
is at the base of Mt Evans and Mt Spalding with those ridges and cliffs rising from the lake to the summits over 1,000 feet above.
I have used the parking lot here as my starting point for a hike up to the Mt Evans summit. You can see the peak in the upper left
corner of the image and what looks like a gradual uphill climb. Trust me, it isn't gradual and it isn't a straight shot. However, it is
worth every step.
