September 18, 2010 - I drove to Rocky Mountain National Park early in
hopes of beating the rush of Denverites heading to the mountains. This is a prime weekend for finding great fall colors. I luckily
found a parking spot at the Glacier Gorge trailhead. Quickly I prepared everything and started my trek to find
Black Lake - deep (about 5 miles)into the Rockies from the trailhead. I had been told about Black Lake by
Lori Salisbury a few years ago. She found it to be a very inspirational
place.
While the hike was beautiful to this point, it was a little discouraging to see that I still had 1.2 miles yet to go and from the
looks of the trail to the left, it was going to be more intense elevation gain. This image also shows the log bridge that heads to
a camping site. There were a lot of such log bridges through the meadows since they were more like bogs.
