Every hiking season, I climb a previously scaled 14er to check the condition of my
legs and lungs. This year, I intended to do Mt. Bierstadt again but part way up the road to Guanella Pass I discovered construction had closed
the road. I back tracked and headed up I-70 to the trailhead for Grays and Torreys Peaks. I had hiked Grays twice before - once continuing over
to Torreys Peak.
From the top of Grays Peak - looking back down to the valley floor. That is the valley I just came up - the trailhead is in the far
distance in the darker green - the trees where the trail starts. That is a little over 3.5 miles away. I love this view and no matter how long I waited
to get an unobstructed shot, there were just too many hikers. Thus I got a shot with a tired hiker finally making the summit.
