On the east side of main street in downtown Winter Park, behind the many condos that are there now, is a native wetlands area (above). The photo was taken from the thrid floor landing in the condo we were staying in. This an untouched part of the wilderness. In fact, this is where we spotted a moose (see moose photo).

By definition, a wetland is an area of land whose soil is saturated with moisture either permanently or seasonally. And while wetlands comprise less than two percent of Colorado's landscape they provide benefits to over 75% of the species in the state, including waterfowl and several declining species.
