Mesa Verde, Spanish for ‘Green Table’, was a flourishing community from AD 600 through AD 1300.
These cliff dwellings actually represent the last 75 to 100 years of occupation.
Leaving my previous perch where I was taking the Balcony House pictures, I walked along the edge of the cliff toward the next valley over. The trail was
strewn with flowers, plants, trees and burned out tree skeletons. There was a great fire here years ago that left eerie remnants. I tried to capture
these blooming flowers with the valley faded in the background.
